Christopher Anthony King

On Saturday, March 4, 2023, Christopher Anthony King died at the age of 57 after a brief illness.

Christopher was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Allison King, in 1995. He is survived by his father, H. Phillip King and his wife JoAnn of Morganton, son Brendan King (Jenna Lynn) of Wilson, daughter Liz Ellis (Michael) of Wilson and daughter Grace King of Atlantic Beach, sister Allison King Thompson (William), Tori Thompson, niece and Grant Thompson, nephew all of Knightdale. He is also survived by his longtime friend Donna Durham.

Christopher attended Wingate University and studied church music. After leaving Wingate, he worked for Allen Organ company for many years. Chris also served at St Therese Catholic Church in Wilson as choirmaster and organist. He then moved to WIlmington where he began his ministry at The Church of the Good Shepherd. Chris had a love for music, particularly organ music. He loved to hear other musicians perform and learn from them. He deeply loved his church family at Good Shepherd. Chris also was always very concerned for the well-being of others, oftentimes before himself.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 15th at 11am at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 515 Queen St, Wilmington, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions be made to The Church of the Good Shepherd at the above address.
