Donald Charles Davies, of Leland, NC passed away on June 10, 2023 at the age of 80 years old. Don was a tremendously giving man that loved his family and friends with entire heart and every sense of being. A man of strong faith, he was one that thrived in his bible study groups as well as was a man that would give his last penny to anyone in need. Don had a desire to live like no other, beating the odds time and time again.
Don was born in Pittsburgh, PA on February, 2, 1943. He graduated from Dormont High School in Pittsburgh and continued on to study business at Tarkio College in Missouri. Don served in the US Army Intelligence Service from 1963 to 1966, with the last two years serving in Asmara, Ethiopia. After his discharge in Ethiopia, Don lived with an African tribe for 3 months as a missionary. Don was extremely proud of both his time in the service and as a missionary.
Prior to his sudden illness in 1981, Don was a successful businessman in the publication field. He was a member of Crosswinds Church in Leland and had many close friends there.
Don is preceded in death by his parents David “Chuck” Davies and Doris Conley Davies.
Don is survived by his three brothers and their wives; Darrell & Judy Davies, David & Wendy Davies, and Duane & Elaine Davies. His two daughters and their husbands; Heather and Mark Dennehy and Heidi and Steve Chappell. His three beloved granddaughters; Kelsey, Kielan and Caroline Dennehy.
A Celebration of Life will take place in Cape Canaveral Florida at a future date to be determined. Burial will follow the celebration at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at TBD.
Aquamation services have been handled by Tranquility Cremation by Aquamation in Wilmington, NC.
