Eden Gilliam

Our dear Eden Phillips Gilliam died at the age of 76 on November 11, 2022 at her home in Leland, NC. She was born Eden Mary Brabant in Manhattan, New York on July 23, 1946. Eden was a generous and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be missed terribly.


Eden was predeceased by her parents, William and Edna Brabant, her sister, Jill Keene, and her husband John Gilliam. Eden is survived by Andrea Phillips Garner (daughter), Brynn Garner (granddaughter), Dale Kinney and Mark Darby (sister and brother-in-law), Geoff and Karen Brabant (brother and sister-in-law), Aaron Kinney (nephew), Michele Brabant (niece), Chris Keene, Nick Keene, and Justin Keene (nephews). Eden was a well-loved member of the real estate community in Leland. Eden loved her work family at Coldwell Banker SeaCoast Realty and went to the office every day until the last two months of her life.

Eden loved all animals and especially her cats. Instead of flowers, please consider making a donation to your favorite animal charity. Loved ones may also consider making a donation to Lower Cape Fear Life Care. The hospice team made it possible for Eden to be at home with her family.

Eden did not want a traditional service. Her family will honor her with a celebration of life on Saturday, November 19 at Magnolia Greens Club Room located at 1800 Tommy Jacobs Drive in Leland, NC from 11:00-2:00. We invite anyone who knew Eden to join us for brunch to remember her life.
