James "Jimmy" Wallace Fauquier Jr.

May 22, 1948 — December 1, 2023

James Wallace Fauquier Jr., affectionately known as Jimmy, peacefully passed away in Wilmington, North Carolina on December 1, 2023. Born in Washington DC on May 22, 1948, he was the beloved oldest child and a cherished member of his extended family. Jimmy's memory will forever be treasured by his loved ones, as he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

Jimmy had a special affinity for the beach, puli dogs, and small children.
Loved the sun, the surf and sand. His neighbors caught him at the pool any sunny afternoon.

An intellectual at heart, Jimmy had a thirst for knowledge and a passion for learning. Researching many topics of interest, for himself and those that required his assistance. A true caregiver, selfless and honest to the core. He was a source of inspiration for those around him.

In addition to his intellectual pursuits, Jimmy was also a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed watching and discussing various sports, from football to baseball and everything in between. While a fan of many sports teams, Jimmy was an impassioned fan of University of Maryland men and women’s basketball teams. Jimmy’s “vigorous “ cheering and astute assessments of the Maryland Terps will always be commemorated by his family and friends.

Jimmy's love for his family was immeasurable. As the oldest of five (Mimi, Tommy, Suzi and Johnny), he took on the role of a caring and protective older brother and patriarch, always looking out for his siblings and offering guidance when needed. He was also a beloved uncle to ten nieces and nephews, and a cherished great uncle to seven. Jimmy's presence at family gatherings created lasting memories.

Although Jimmy's physical presence may no longer be with us, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His love and his unwavering devotion to family will continue to inspire and guide us. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the beautiful life he lived and the impact he had on all those fortunate enough to have known him.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, to honor Jimmy's life and allow his loved ones to come together to share their memories and find solace in one another's presence. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to [charity of your choice] in Jimmy's memory.

May James Wallace Fauquier Jr.'s memory forever be a blessing to all who knew him.
