Jayne McKinnon Pell, 78, of Hampstead, North Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare of Wilmington, NC.
She was born on February 10, 1945, in Charlotte, North Carolina as the youngest of five children to Pauline and Jack McKinnon. She graduated from Sun Valley High School, Class of 1963 and worked for over 50 years providing customer service to clients and suppliers in various industries where she was often recognized for exceptional performance.
She was a loving, kind and extremely thoughtful mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who cherished time spent with family and friends. She was a true cat lover, a talented artist and graphic designer, and a very accomplished dollmaker. A quintessential self-starter, she mastered every task undertaken and always brought her unique, creative touch to everything she did. She loved the ocean, and her dream was realized when moving to the beach where she and her husband combed the surf for ‘amazing finds’ and volunteered with the Turtle Watch Program on Topsail Island. But above all else in life, family was her pride and joy.
Baptized in 1997 at Tega Cay Baptist Church while living in the Charlotte area, she later became a member of The Gathering at Surf City Baptist Church where she enjoyed serving in the library, in a women’s book club and as a Vacation Bible School volunteer. She courageously faced her cancer as an opportunity to grow in trusting her Savior and, despite her frequent pain, often declared, “God’s got this!”
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, David Pell, her son, David (Michele) Love of Jericho, Vermont, and her beloved grandchildren Gabe Love, Charis Love, Eli Love and Mary Love. She is also survived by her siblings, Judy (Ben) Jennings, Alice Mills, and her sister-in-law, Deborah Barber, a host of nieces, grandnieces, grandnephew, and great grandniece, and her beloved feline, Wilson.
She will be sorely missed but forever in our hearts!
