Joanne Britt Paulin

JoAnne Britt Paulin, 88, passed away peacefully this morning March 17, 2023, with her daughter Cathy Marshall by her side.
JoAnne was born in Wallace, NC in December 1934, the daughter of Stacy H. Britt and Eula Greene Phillips of Warsaw, NC, where she was raised with brother Edward and sister Betty Jean Britt. She married Robert J. Paulin and was loving Mother to Cathy and Randy Paulin.
JoAnne retired after 27 years as a Communication specialist with Southern Bell, and AT&T/Bell South Advertising and Publishing Corp. in Atlanta Georgia. Her management and training departments helped convert the sales of Yellow Pages Ads from manual to full computerization in four Southern States in the 1970’s.
As President of MAP Associates, founded in 1977, she provided management, consulting and training for law enforcement associations and other non-profits.
Upon retiring to Topsail Island, NC in 1986, she was later elected Surf City Town Commissioner on November 7, 1989, (the only woman on the ballot.)
Retirement also gave her great joy as a staff Coordinator of Volunteers for Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Pender County; Vice Chair of the Pender County Rape Crisis Advisory Board; Program Chair of the Greater Topsail Kiwanis Club; Tutor for the Cape Fear Literacy Council; Member of the American BusinessWomen’s Association; and Member of the American Society for Training and Development.
She is survived by her daughter Cathy Paulin Marshall (Peter) grandsons, Max and Jake, and grandson Adam Paulin (Randy), and Daughter in Law, Melanie Paulin of Myrtle Beach. She also leaves behind her beloved sister Betty Britt Martin (James) and niece/nephew Caswell Martin Allen (Dan, Turner, Lila) and Britt Martin (Vina.)
JoAnne was predeceased by beloved son Randall (Randy) Paulin, brother Edward Britt, father Stacy Herring Britt and Mother Eula Lee Green Britt.
A Celebration of Life will be held sometime in May, in Hampstead, NC. In lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to Cape Fear Life Care https://lifecare.org/donate/ , the Literacy Council https://secure.swell.gives/tlcwintercampaign/donations#/amount or a charity of your choice.
