Judy (nee Heath Harrison) Mitchell Farri passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sept. 25, 2023 in Wilmington, NC after a 4-year struggle with dementia.
Judy was born in Concord, NC to Abner Heath Harrison and Bertie Hazeline Rhyne Harrison. She graduated from Concord High School, attended Pfeiffer College, Seven Arts Center and Stella Adler Theater Studio in NYC. Later in life she returned to college and was the first member of her family to graduate.
She worked as an executive secretary for 29 years in Florida. After moving to Wilmington she worked for an additional 7 at a local law firm.
Judy was predeceased by her only child, Maria Elena Mitchell, and first husband Charles Stephen “Steve” Mitchell.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Joseph Farri, and several nieces and a nephew (Leslie MacDonald, Dana MacDonald Dillon (Robert), Julie Hampton (Bill), Jeana Harrison (Chad), Heath Harrison).
She will be missed by numerous other loved ones and friends.
Judy was a good person and like all good people she made a difference in the lives of people she met. Especially her husband. She volunteered for many years with disadvantaged children, reading to the little ones and mentoring the teens. She also volunteered at the Cameron Art Museum. Judy was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where she was a regular reader of the Scripture lesson.
She loved to travel. Reading was her passion. The NY Times crossword her foil. Lovely Rita and Charlie her furry companions.
