Kimble Nethercutt

CAROLINA BEACH - On May 21st, 2022 Kim Nethercutt of Carolina Beach passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Kim was born in Wytheville, VA in 1957 to the late Joseph King and Alice Milgrim.
Kim is survived by her husband, Jac Nethercutt and daughter Kari King (David) Weissman. She is also survived by her stepdaughter McKinnley Nethercutt Sherman (Chris), stepson Jackie Nethercutt, Grand Children Aryiel Sherman and Landon Sherman, Brother Mike King. Kim is also survived by her “aggravating animals” AKA beloved pets Daisy, Leo, Josie, and Winston, as well as countless other friends and family collected and loved throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her sister Lisa King Dolloff and brother Frank King.
Kim worked as a pipefitter for many years traveling to various places across the country with her daughter before settling down in Carolina Beach. She eventually worked her way up to General Foreman and had multiple crews under her (not an easy task being a woman in a predominantly male field). After that she went to work at New Hanover Medical Group and was there over 20 years, first working as a medical transcriptionist and then transitioning to other special projects until her retirement in 2020.
When Kim’s daughter Kari was around 6 years old, she started playing T-Ball with what is now known as Pleasure Island Youth Baseball. Kim wanted to get involved and there started her long record of volunteer service for Carolina Beach and beyond. Over the years she volunteered for the Parks and Recreation Committee, Beach Sweep, Hurricane Response Committee, Relay for Life, Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, Katie B. Hines Senior Center, The Steve Haydu Lo Tide Run and countless other organizations and causes. Kim was the first to step up and lend a helping hand. She loved talking to people at all these organizations just as much as she loved helping.
Kim loved being outside in her yard, a true wildlife sanctuary. She spent many years beautifying her little slice of Heaven on Earth. She fed all manner of creatures from birds to squirrels to the occasional opossum or raccoon. She called it her “Nature TV”.
Kim loved cooking for any and all, especially an apple cake or chicken and dumplings.
She loved going to yard sales and thrift shops and finding treasures. Which she enjoyed giving away way more than keeping. She was always looking for something that someone else could use.
Kim always spoke her mind and was one of the realest people you would ever meet. She was also the most compassionate person with the biggest heart that most will ever know.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday June 12th from 2-5 pm at the Carolina Beach American Legion. Kim asked that In lieu of flowers a tree be planted to make the world a more beautiful place.
A service in Austinville, VA will happen at a later date.
