Linda Karanovich

Linda Slaminko Karanovich, 79, of Wilmington, NC passed away November 10, 2022.

If you met Linda just once, you probably have a story about her. She lived an interesting yet
sometimes challenging life, but filled everyday with love. Her passion for the beach, the
Steelers, the Tar Heels, the Elks, her friends and loved ones, and a good glass of wine was
immeasurable. Give her a good book or crossword puzzle and a chair in the sand and she was
happy.

A writer and reporter by trade, she was endlessly curious and loved to meet new people. She
once said, “give me three questions, and I will know about a person’s life.”

As a wife, mother, sibling, partner, and friend, she was unequaled. Her passing is painful, but
the memories of her will live on for years to come. She was loved, respected, wise, and above
all, compassionate. Heaven’s gain is our loss, but make no mistake about it, we know there was
quite a party to welcome her.

In addition to her parents Joseph and Mathilda Slaminko, she was preceded in death by her
husband David.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include her son Michael Karanovich & wife Crystal of
Raleigh NC, brother Jim Slaminko & wife Sandy of Sarasota FL, brother Fred of Pittsburgh PA,
longtime partner Jerry West of Wilmington NC, and countless relatives and cherished friends.

There will be a celebration of Linda’s life in the early part of next year after the holidays.
