Maxine Stanley

On Sunday, October 17, 2021, Maxine Creed Stanley, 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Maxine was a long time member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church in Greensboro, NC, where she resided for 81 years. She had lived in Carolina Beach, NC for the past two years.

Maxine was a great cook and gardener. She loved roses and her pug, Rosie.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ola Creed, her twin sister, Geraldine Shomo, and her husband of 44 years, Billy Joe Stanley Sr.

She is survived by her brothers — Ken Creed, James and Martha Creed, Wayne and Judy Creed; her children — Sherri and husband Gary Bowman, Billy Joe Jr (Jody) and wife Wanda Stanley, and Dorrene L. Stanley. She is also survived by four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery 3901 Forest Lawn Dr., Greensboro, NC 27455. On Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 2 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Gethsemane united Methodist church, 100 NC Highway 150 W. Greensboro, NC 27455
