Rod "Skip" Calkins

Originally from Canton and East Sparta OH area, Died peacefully in hospice care on October 28, 2023 in Wilmington NC from complications from Alzheimer’s. He is survived by his son Clay Calkins of Athens OH, Clay's wife, Sherry Calkins, Skip's partner of 35 years, Meredith Webb of Wilmington NC, and his brothers Gary Calkins, Jack Calkins, and Doug Calkins, and many friends and loved ones from all over the country. He was most proud of his son Clay with Clay’s Mother, Rebecca Calkins, his Military Service in the USN from 1966-1972, and his college degree in Forestry from Stephen F Austin University in 1986.
A Celebration of Life event is scheduled for December 2, 2023 in Fredericksburg VA, and
another in Spring of 2024 [TBD] in East Sparta OH.
