Wendy Blair DeCroteau took her last breath at home while her life partner/ spouse Alberta Wallace
sat at the bedside. Wendy was born in Clearwater, Florida to Faye (Krause-predeceased, 2014) and
William Eugene DeCroteau (predeceased, 2004). She was the only child from this union.
Wendy was reared in the Catholic tradition attending Catholic schools until high school graduation.
After which she attended the University of New Hampshire receiving her Bachelor of Science
degree in Physical Education. Track and Field was her sport where she excelled in the hammer
throw.
Wendy remained in New England after graduation teaching in schools and as a water aerobics
instructor at YWCA’s. She took her gifts of compassion, listening, planning, organizing and being
detailed focus to the field of facilities management working for Measured Progress and then to the
city of Rochester, New Hampshire.
Wendy loved animals. She and her mother in 1995 created the Northern New England Sled Dog and
Trade Fair. During the warmer New England weather, golf was her passion as she participated and
organized women’s golf tournaments. Wendy also loved the Fine Arts.
In 2019 she met her life partner, Alberta Wallace. They relocated to North Carolina in 2022 to be
close to the ocean but not too far from the mountains. On North Topsail Beach Wendy was
introduced to sea turtles. Wendy was a regular volunteer at the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Hospital,
proud to be a member of the Friday team. Now that she was retired due to living with ovarian
cancer, her passion for the Fine Arts could be fully explored. One way Wendy fed that passion was
as a volunteer for Thalian Hall and a member of the Cameron Arts Museum.
Wendy was a member of the Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, Cary, NC. She will be
remembered most for her zest for life, her captivating blue eyes and a smile that made the world
brighter. She will be mourned by people from New England, Kansas City, Hawaii, and North
Carolina. Wendy’s life partner/spouse Alberta Wallace will miss her the most.
In lieu of flowers, honor Wendy’s life with a gift to the organizations that gave her life: The Karen
Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center; Historic Thalian Hall; Cameron Art Museum;
Animal Welfare Society.
Aquamation Services have been entrusted to Tranquility Cremation by Aquamation.
Memorial services are being planned at her church, Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, Cary,
