Willie Laverne Batten

LELAND: Willie Laverne Batten, 75, died Monday, January 23, 2023, at home. Willie was known by his friends and family as Doc and was born in Biscoe, NC on January 17th, 1948, to Carl and Willie Batten. He served as a mechanic in the United States Army and was deployed to Vietnam at a young age. He served our country with courage, earning the Purple Heart. He continued on to many other occupations, including: paramedic, pipefitter, and chief of police. Doc was a very tough and brave man, yet he still revealed a warm, generous heart and a real soft spot for animals. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Wilma Batten, as well as many other loving family members. He will be greatly missed and remembered by many.
